A thoughtful tea break for the pace of modern life
Modern workdays can be demanding.
Long hours in front of screens
Back-to-back meetings
Constant notifications
Deadlines and decisions
Too little time to pause, breathe and reset
We cannot remove all of that from our day.
But we can create small moments within it.
A five-minute tea break can be one of them.
For this little introduction from Tea & Twigs, we have selected two different blends — each with a different character, different ingredients and a different reason for being in your cup.
And we believe that what goes into your cup matters just as much as the ritual itself.
What goes into your cup?
We keep our approach simple:
🌱 Ingredients with a story
Our ingredients are sourced directly from farmers and trusted growing communities, helping us stay closer to where our ingredients come from.
Direct sourcing allows us to focus on:
Ingredient quality
Traceability
Freshness
Building relationships with the people who grow what goes into our blends
Behind every cup is not just an ingredient — there is a farm, a grower and a chain of choices that brought it to you.
🍃 A plant-based tea bag
Our tea bags are made using plant-based material, so the tea experience doesn't need to come at the expense of thoughtful material choices.
No unnecessary plastic-based feel — just a simple tea bag designed to let the leaves and botanicals infuse naturally.
Tea bag material specifications may vary by product; please refer to the product packaging for the applicable disposal guidance.
01 — Hibiscus Ginger
Bright. Warming. Refreshing.
What's in your cup?
Hibiscus — naturally rich in anthocyanins and other polyphenols, giving the infusion its beautiful ruby-red colour and refreshing tartness.
Ginger — contains naturally occurring compounds such as gingerols and shogaols, responsible for its characteristic warmth and aroma.
Why these two together?
Hibiscus brings brightness. Ginger brings warmth.
It is a combination designed to make the tea break feel refreshing without being complicated.
From farm to cup
We source our botanicals with an emphasis on direct farmer relationships and ingredient traceability.
The goal is simple:
Know the ingredient.Know where it comes from.Treat it with care.
What does research tell us about Hibiscus?
Research on Hibiscus sabdariffa has particularly explored cardiovascular and metabolic health.
A 2022 systematic review and meta-analysis looked at 17 randomized controlled trials and found that hibiscus consumption was associated with reductions in systolic blood pressure. The effect appeared more pronounced in people who had higher blood pressure at the beginning of the studies.
The review also found a reduction in LDL cholesterol, while noting that further research is needed around dosage and duration.
The important distinction: these studies investigate hibiscus preparations under specific conditions. This does not mean that a cup of hibiscus tea is a treatment for high blood pressure.

What does research tell us about Ginger?
Ginger has a long history of use in traditional food and wellness practices.
Modern research has investigated ginger in areas including:
Digestive comfort
Nausea and vomiting
Inflammatory markers
Metabolic health
Certain types of pain
A comprehensive systematic review examined 109 randomized controlled trials involving ginger. The evidence was particularly promising in areas such as nausea and vomiting, some inflammatory outcomes, metabolic syndrome and digestive function, although the strength of evidence varied between conditions.

02 — Ashwagandha Green Tea
Grounding. Fresh. Gently energising.
What's in your cup?
Ashwagandha root — a traditional Ayurvedic botanical that has attracted growing interest in modern research, particularly around stress and wellbeing.
Darjeeling Green Tea — provides the fresh character of green tea, along with naturally occurring tea polyphenols, caffeine and L-theanine.
Cardamom — adds a naturally aromatic, lightly sweet and warming note to the blend.
Why these ingredients together?
This blend brings together three very different traditions:
Ashwagandha → traditional botanical wellness
Darjeeling Green Tea → freshness, tea polyphenols and natural caffeine
Cardamom → aroma and warmth
The result is a cup designed for the moments when you want to stay engaged with your day while taking a proper pause.
From farmers to your tea cup
Our approach to sourcing is rooted in relationships rather than simply buying commodities.
Where possible, we work closer to the source and choose ingredients from farmers and growing communities who understand the character of what they cultivate.
For a product built around botanicals and tea, we think that connection matters.
Better sourcing.More traceability.More respect for the ingredient.
Ashwagandha & the modern conversation around stress
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) has been used traditionally in Ayurveda for centuries.
Today, it is one of the more extensively studied Ayurvedic botanicals in the area of stress.
Recent human research has explored its potential effects on:
Perceived stress
Anxiety
Cortisol
Sleep and wellbeing
A 2024 systematic review and meta-analysis examined 9 randomized controlled trials involving 558 people and found that Ashwagandha preparations were associated with improvements in measures of perceived stress, anxiety and cortisol compared with placebo.
More recently, a 2026 systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis examined 22 randomized controlled trials involving 1,391 adults. It found promising effects on measures of stress, anxiety and depression, while also highlighting differences between studies and the need for further research to establish optimal doses and durations.
In other words: the research is encouraging, but it is still developing.
Ashwagandha should not be presented as a cure for stress or as a replacement for professional medical care.
Research:
Darjeeling Green Tea & the working mind
Green tea contains naturally occurring:
Caffeine
L-theanine
Tea polyphenols
The combination of caffeine and L-theanine is particularly interesting in research around attention and cognitive performance.
A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials investigated tea, L-theanine, caffeine and combinations of these compounds.
The findings suggest that L-theanine together with caffeine may provide benefits for certain measures of attention and cognitive performance, although the size and consistency of these effects remain an area of ongoing research.

Make your tea break count
You don't need another productivity hack.
You may simply need five minutes without one.
Try this:
1. Step away from the screen.Put the phone down. Close the laptop.
2. Make your tea.Notice the aroma, colour and warmth.
3. Take a few slow breaths.Nothing to accomplish for those few minutes.
4. Sip without multitasking.Let the break actually be a break.
5. Return when you're ready.
Small rituals may not change the whole day.
But they can change how we move through it.
Why Tea And Twigs?
We believe wellness should be:
Simple — something that fits naturally into everyday life.
Enjoyable — because healthy habits shouldn't feel like chores.
Thoughtful — ingredients should have a reason for being there.
Closer to the source — because knowing where ingredients come from matters.
Evidence-aware — traditional wisdom is valuable, but scientific evidence matters too.
Honest — promising research deserves curiosity, not exaggerated claims.
More conscious — from the ingredients we choose to the materials we use.
These two blends are our small invitation to pause.
Choose your cup.Take five minutes. And give yourself permission to simply pause.
Tea & Twigs
Small rituals. Thoughtfully chosen ingredients.
The research behind the cup
We believe wellness products should be supported by evidence, while being honest about what science does — and does not — prove.
